    Is this one okay? Is it a zincer? Does it appear to you that the catch has been replaced?

    Hi HC,

    Looks like a cast repro unfortunately. Wrong pin and catch, and misplaced maker's mark with poor detail.

            I agree that the pin and catch are replacements but not sure I agree it is a cast fake. Isn't the maker mark the same as that identified as "Type 1" on post #15 of this thread?

              Well, I see your point that the maker mark may be in the correct position, but it's malformed and indistinct. Also, the surface texture of the reverse is odd, and all the margins of the u-boat superstructure and the swastika are smoothened. For this to be real, it would have to have been filed down, hardware replaced and then refinished. Either way, it has serious problems I'm afraid.
