    Hollow back Destroyer badge?????

Did they exist? I have never ever seen one, but now I have been offered one. I have checked most of the big dealers and I have come up empty handed.

Detlev sold one a while back but most people think that they are fakes. I wouldn't own one as I think you would have a hard time selling it later.

Most of us think that the hollow destroyers are pure fantasy pieces. There are quiet a few threads that deal with these.

Other dealers disagree with us, as can be seen on their websites.

        Hi Don,

To be correct Detlev had one on his site a couple of months ago but it was pulled back immediately after he was informed that these were no good. So Delev never sold it.

I only know of one type of hollow back and it's always the same, the set-up on these badges is a perfect match to the set-ups found on fake BH mayer GAB's, fake Porsche PAB's and one crude looking fake IAB.

Thanks for the update Philippe. Having never held one of these I and having heard they were fakes I was surprised to see it on the update. I'm glad it got pulled. I would rather pass on a questionable badge, at least until I have a textbook example.

            Convincing hollow destroyer

I'll pull this old thread back since I got pictures of previously unknown hollow destroyer (At least for me) and different from the two examples pictured on Detlevs reproduction archives.

Looks like the same old fake with the addition of new hardware. I do not like the shape of that pin.

I believe its fake too, but I have never seen that well made horizontal pin set up on hollow badges.

Same old outfit with a new pair of shoes.

Compare this one to the traditional fake hollow-stamped badge on the right with the typical pin set-up. You can see that both badges came from the same die by the die errors appearing on both. Looks like the fakers have tried to update the old fake badge to fool some new collectors.

So now we have hollow stamp destroyer mark II...

                              Hi Jani,

First time I see this copy with the a broad pin set up. If this indeed is new than it probaly won't take long before we encounter variant set-ups on there IAB (MK Based), GAB (Mayer Based) and PAB (Porsche based) production.
