      Hi Nick,

Could you please elaborate on that? While I agree that this type is generally regarded as bad I wasn't aware of the "Richard Herre" story?

      Best regards,
      ---Norm

Yes, that would be very interesting to hear more about it. Never heard about Richard Herre as well.
        Cheers,

He was making any kind of embroidery in the 80's , sometimes on original
cloth he was able to get .
He had its own machines for that ...
He had a list as well , making eagles in every possible colour variations,
including on camo cloth which never existed !
You can still see very often stuff from him in Germany nowadays , sold ad repro or original for the best pieces ...
i'm sure he wasn't the only one to do this KM badge of course, but this one was made in his workshop !

              Hi Nick,

Very interesting indeed. Do you have a catalog image or know of a verified Herre product showing identical construction or a specific anecdote about a collector receiving this type directly from Herre -- anything that allows us to link this specific type to Richard Herre?

              Best regards,
              ---Norm

You didn't have so often lists with pictures in the 80's !
A "verified"typical item from him are those embroidered WSS side cap death heads, which existed only in bevo but he made them nevertheless ...

                  Hi Nick,

I understand, but what is the link of this particular type of fake KleinkampfverbÀnde proficiency patch reproduction to Herre? Was it just a theory?

It's important to provide background to any such statement for the collecting community to determine the reliability of the information.

                  Best regards,
                  ---Norm

It's not a theory , it's what i had in my hands , coming from him in the 80's as he sold his badges as repro to everybody, including in the shows !
It was not a "secret list" or a confidentional work but a normal repro cloth badges maker, with high standards .

Thanks Nick. That's the kind of detail we needed.

Can you recall if there were other embroidered KM badges offered by Herre at the time, for example U-Boats, Destroyers and Minesweepers?

                      Best regards,
                      ---Norm

He never made badges in WW2,all his stuff was new made with new models .
Models which were actually not that perfect !
You can see his breast or sleeve eagles from time to time , sold as ...
