I agree with Hubert. Interesting how all the hardware was destroyed in the same manner. Any story behind these? From a display, or perhaps from POWs?

I think they were mounted within a glass display. They broke off the pins so they would lie flat.

I would do exactly the same now and frame them. It would look great.

That's my guess ... those nasty protruding things on the backs don't allow my badges to sit flush against my mounts.
