Assistance requested on another U-Boat Badge...

    Hello Colleagues,

Here is a U-Boat badge I am considering to purchase. The makers name is ' fo ' . Your educated opinions would be most appreciated.

    Cheers!

Hi Michael, the badge looks fine to me. I used to own one by this maker, Freidrich Orth, Wien. The lack of finish is due to the badge being a later war example and being made out of zinc. These badges loose the gilt finish very easy.

        Hope this helps?

        Cheers, Ade.

            Thank you!

            Ardian,

Your comments and observations helped me make a decision. I was not sure about the lack of Gilt finish.

            Thank you.

            Cheers!

These seem to miss the finish maybe 4 out of 5 times...actually a nice thing to look for on original badges, but I am sure the fakers will wise up to that too.
