    High seas fleet - opinions?

I love these badges and I'm looking to get my first in a trade deal where this one is up for grabs. However, it is among many bad fakes that I have spotted from the same collection, and I don't want to get burned. I like what I see but this is not my area of expertise.

Please share your thoughts on this one!

    Regards,
    Finn

      Hi Finn,

It looks like a genuine zincer with a decent amount of finish remaining.

      Regards
      Mike

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

If you PM/contact me without the courtesy of using your first name, please don't be offended if I politely ignore you!

            Hi Finn,

I like it too. A nice, zinc Schwerin HSF.

...Interesting to see how the seem to have left the larger, right side mast oddly trimmed...Monday or Friday job methinks!

That's the typical look of the right mast arm in the zinc version of Schwerin's Fleet badge. There appears to have been a problem with the trimming stamp in that area by the time of zinc production.

                    Best regards,
                    ---Norm

Interesting! I only have an early, vet estate acquired example which doesn’t display this characteristic. So this effect typically only appears on later, zinc examples?
