    Hi KM Collectors

I'd like to have opinions for this U-Boat Badge cames from a house clearance in Germany I'll have in few days the urkunde with, what do you think about it ?
    A Schickle design with a bloc/hinge variation ? or a new fake
I know Schickle / Mayer use differents catch and bloc Hinge but this one, I never seen one like this before the Swatiska is well cut

    By advance thanks

      Hi Alain,
It looks like original worn tombak Schickle u-boat, type 4.1.9 in the Classification system, but the main pin has been replaced or at least filed.
      Cheers,
      Hubert

I think this one needs a bit more study. Yes, the pin is wrong but the block hinge is also wrong. It's smaller, lacking in definition and looks suspiciously like a cast-in hinge block. We need good closeups of that hinge block from several angles, and while we're at it some closeups of the edges of the badge. The obverse looks quite good except for some fine pitting. If it's an original then it's seen some hard times or harsh cleaning.

          Best regards,
          ---Norm

            repaired

Looks like there are some file marks or lines around the hinge where it is attached? It is also a different colour there maybe it is an old repair job? As Norm pointed out the pin is definitely wrong but the Obverse looks pretty darn good.

                      hinge looks cast to me.
