      Well, that's very interesting. I believe that's the first time we're seeing that setup on the Tombak U-Boat although it's rarely seen on the Schickle Destroyer badge.

      I wish we had some closeups of the hardware. If another example shows up then we can add it to the classification system.

            Apparently the badge at the top of this thread was part of a large grouping of Oberfunkmeister Herbert Kohrsmeier with awards, documents, Schirmmütze, dagger, etc., including a U-Boat award document dated September 9, 1941 (just sold recently on Giel's Militaria). Kohrsmeier apparently served on U-71 and U-1060.

            Very interesting variant and the quest is on to find another with this reverse setup.

              This looks like it might be the same variant but with a replaced catch, from an old Detlev Niemann listing. Looks like I'll have to add this variant to the classification table.
