This type of catch is also often seen on HJ badges and other non combat Souval postwar productions.

The next point to consider regarding the Souval U-Boat at the top of this thread is that if you ignore the reverse setup, the planchet with hand cutouts is identical to the so-called "flatback maker" badges attributed to Rettenmaier. These come in two setups as shown here, and one has to seriously wonder if some, if not all, of these are post-war as well. Impossible to say for sure at present.

I finally found the old thread discussing another one of these post-war Souval U-Boat badges, again noting the similarity to the flatback. Same reverse setup as Jacques' and this one was part of a grouping.
