    K-verband grouping

    Hi guys

Here's a little and nice Kleinkampfverbände der Kriegsmarine grouping which I purchased through a picker and which came directly from the family of the man. Not too much in it, but I thought this was kind of interesting. According to the letter Kexel was MIA in Bleialf, very close to the Belgian border.

    Hope you like it!

        Giel,

There is no one with that surname missing or killed on that date on the German War Graves site....he might have been taken PoW but the site is not yet 100% accurate.

The FP Nr. belonged to the following unit: 42933 E - 8. Kompanie Grenadier-Regiment 293.

A thread on HWMF gives some insight as to what Kexel was involved in prior to him being reported missing

Thanks for the info Ian! I think based on this the chances are indeed quite big he was taken POW rather than KIA.
            Kind regards,

Well I didn't really think of it, but I guess the denazified wound badge that came with the group confirms Kexel was taken prisoner!
              Kind regards,

                  Hi Giel,

Looks like a classic example of the "accepted" type of Level 1 Sägefisch-Kampfabzeichen patch. (More in the pinned reference threads.)

But is there anything else in the grouping so suggest a connection between this sailor and the Kleinkampfverbände?

                  Best regards,
                  ---Norm

Going by the ranks, I do think that we have two brothers or relatives here.

                      Best regards
