Friedrich Orth U-boat badge for review

I am a bit confused by the square stamp on the reverse, instead of the "o".
Based on variants approoved, this isn't OK. Am I right?

    Hi Andjelo,

Looks like a high quality fake to me. The texture is off, it lacks the usual trimming flashing, there's a catch plate where there shouldn't be, the hinge flanges are the wrong shape and the maker mark is the "Type 3" (Type 5.6.3) usually associated with the vertical setup. Furthermore, there's a suspicious flaw in the laurel leaf on the inner wreath at the bow end (left) which I've seen before (can't remember where at the moment).

    Best regards,
    ---Norm

Looks an improved version of the fakes in this thread:

And here's the same type of fake with that flaw in the laurel leaf. I knew I'd seen it somewhere before...

Completely agree with Norm. This is one to stay away from as it would not look good in your fine KM collection. As one wag on another site put it, "This is such a bad fake that even the eagle is frowning." But seriously, FO u-boat badges are not that hard to find so you should be able to get a good one easily enough if it is this particular maker you seek.

It's not for me, but a Croatian forum member has it, so I wanted to doublecheck it.

Unfortunately, bad news for him ;-)

              I agree, it's a fake.
              Cheers,

I agree too. Definitely a bad one.

                  Hi Guys,
Here is another example of this clever fake. Artificially aged variation.
                  Cheers,
                  Hubert
