Its a miniature (civilian) stick pin (lapel pin) which lost its stick and mounted on a patch of cloth (for display purposes?). Certainly not a regulation mount like this.

I wonder if this is a German equivalent of what the British referred to as a "Sweetheart badge" ??

A regimental badge,sometimes mass or jeweler produced and given to the wives and sweethearts of the serving military.

I have a bunch of these British examples and some are very nicely made.

I just wonder if this particular KM piece was made up by the wife or girlfriend of a Destroyer Crewman from a miniature piece ??

I have no other explanation,and as Ludwig mentioned,made by someone with time on their hands ??
