    Sergey, you are correct, this is nice so called flat back uboat recently attributed to Alois Rettenmaier
    I think that this variation with rightward openning round wire catch and round base plate is missing in the classification table at the moment.

      Hi Guys,

      That's not the Rettenmaier-attributed U-Boat. That's the unmarked F&B-attributed badge with the needle-pin setup, UC# 5.4.4 in the U-Boat Classification System.

      The eagle head and rudder areas are different from the Souval/Wiedmann/Rettenmaier design, and also the trimming outlines are very consistent on these in contrast to the variable hand finishing of the Rettenmaier.

      Now, whether these were actually assembled by F&B or by a third party is still unknown, but they appear to come from the same die as F&B who only marked them in the pin on the wide pin version. It's much like the situation of the Auxiliary Cruiser badges discussed here:
