Eagle head badge, which boat?

Hi guys....
Another item up for review and comments.
I have seen this eagle badge in a book on the Kriegsmarine. It was pictured worn on a cap. For the life of me I can't recall which book. If I remember correctly it was a surface ship and not a u-boat insignia. Any help in identifying this badge would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I don't know what other ship would use this but U-591 used the eagle head as its emblem. I don't know how you came by this item but a lot of her crew were captured by the USN and brought to the states as POW's.

I 've had this badge forever it seems. I know that it was acquired in the Chicagoland area when I was very actively pursuing Kriegsmarine items in the late '70s thru the mid '80s.

Hmmm...the photo I recall was a deck shot with other naval personel. The impression I have is that it wasn't u-boat superstructure. Perhaps the officer or petty officer was visiting a surface ship (minesweeper or escort ship) .
