These badges are debated.
Some say they are war time originals and some say they are not.
Personally I do not think they are war time produced.

There are numerous threads about these, some people believe (generally those who own them) and an awful lot who don't. I personally wouldn't touch one with a barge pole

I find the conclusion that they are postwar in the Skora/Weber book very much convincing.

Unfortunately, that blog states no proven facts and makes some outrageous and completely unsubstantiated claims:

"Like many military manufacturers Bacqueville under the German occupation made badges for the occupier and in particular for the Kriegsmarine."

This implies that many foreign companies made badges (patently false), and doesn't mention that the Bacqueville firm itself has denied any such involvment.

It goes on to say the original dies have roamed around and been used post-war and that one should buy the ones in the cartons because those are the wartime ones. Although the dies may very well have been used post-war (the usual debate) there's actually no proof that the cartons are period cartons.

Strangely, it lists the dealer's site The Collector's Guild as a reference for validating the claim that that the French maker was the only manufacturer to have permission to make badges outside of German manufacturers!

So reallly, that blog is just another statement of someone's personal opinion.

We don't really need another rehashing of the same old discussions of faith. I would direct patriote3945 to the many past threads on this topic including the two included in the pinned thread:
