    Nice Destroyer

    Hi Gents,
that one came from a private purcase. Former owner was Kapitänleutnant of the Kriegsmarine and the Soldbuch survived the war. He also worked for the GMSA until Dec. 1945.

That is very nice. What is the soldbuch entry for 10-8-39?

Agree. Sometimes found marked L/18 by Mayer. This one is classified as Variation 1 in the KM Awards books.

Just to be clear, the Errata tables and extra badges in Volume III changed the numbering system so that Sascha's badge is actually Variation 4:

Volume III, page 64 - Variation 1 (marked, round-wire catch L/15 by Otto Schickle)
Volume III, page 68 - Variation 2 (unmarked, sheet metal catch variant)
                    Volume I, page 206 - Variation 3 (marked L/18 by B.H. Mayer)
                    Volume I, page 208 - Variation 4 (unmarked, round-wire catch)
Volume III, page 72 - Three other setup variants shown in a compilation of reverse views

So there are five different setup variations of unmarked badge (setups that are also found on other Schickle products) but only one setup (with the round-wire catch like Sascha's) has appeared with the L/15 and L/18 marks.

                    Best regards,
                    ---Norm

I know, I stated it in a rather confusing way. I meant that this is Variation One minus the maker mark. Var. 4 would have been clearer. Thanks.

Think it means D.A. for "Dienstauszeichnung 4 Jahre"
