Schwerin Destroyer opinions

Hi guys, I got offered this and I just want to check it out. Finish looks odd to me. Thanks.

The badge is original, it looks like it has been stripped of the gold finish and corroded a bit on the wreath. Or it was painted. Hard to tell from these pictures, but the badge is fine.

Agree, one of my Zinc Destroyer Badges has the same Burnished Bronze color covering its wreath also. I'll try to get a pic taken for referencing it with yours.

Could this be a copper base pre plating prior to the fire gilding to take the gold better? Just wondering.

Hi Guys,

I agree with Daniel, a genuine Tombak Schwerin but a very strange color to the wreath. I guess it could be some odd chemical reaction over time or maybe repainting, but I notice the same color on the worn surface of the Tombak top hook on the reverse. Could they just be photos from a really bad camera with distorted color?
