I'm a little slow, so let me ask...These are WW2 badges with post war markings and pins added? If so, there is some value for study and slot filling...Or they are total crap and should be ditched? Ed

L/18 KM S Boat & KM Coast Artillery Badges for Review

Hi Ed,
Not slow at all, it's just a bit confusing and subject to some interpretation, but to summarize:
1) Marine Artillery badge - Most likely post-war assembled in the Souval factory from wartime leftovers parts. Rather humorous upside-down mounted main pin which nevertheless looks like standard Souval issue. Interesting L/58 stamp which we know Souval was using in the 1960's on both TR-style and '57 style products.
2) S-Boat - Much more controversial and probably not desirable. Possible leftover Souval planchet but could just be a post-war fake since the hardware and finish don't match the usual Souval products and the L/18 mark is certainly a post-war attempt to deceive.
Hope that helps.
Best regards,
---Norm
