Here is a Destroyer and a U'boat

First up is a classic destroyer badge I believe. Looks as though it has been to sea.

Any ideas on the maker of the U'boat?

Looks as though the pin has been slightly modified with the diagonal bars. I wonder why? Is there anything to be done about the zinc rot?

These are not my area of collecting so will be heading to the table at some stage

James, your first badge is an original zink badge for sure. I belive even the U-boat is genuine altough Im not sure with the maker. Schwerin possibly?

To a bloody zinc rot: Try to put the badges into a vaseline bath for couple of days, it should make them look better. After this I would use some oil to preserve them.

I agree, a good S.H.u.Co. zinc Destroyer and a good zinc Deumer U-Boat. The diagonal striations on the main pin seem to be a personalization of some type - either for easy recognition or to create a bit more friction against the uniform loops to prevent it slipping off too easily?

I think those values are fair. Are you buying or selling them? If I was buying them, I would hold out for nicer examples.
