    SOS Pickup- AS Minesweeper

    Hi guys,

Just back from the SOS, great show for me. Sold a few Para books, but the best part was hanging out with my WAF buddies. Along with my Heer and Luft finds, I was able to snag this unmarked Minesweeper by AS. Still has some decent gilding on the wreath in the recesses and a good bit of the matt silver finish on the reverse. Hope you guys enjoy this one as much as I do.

A big thanks to Norm for helping me authenticate this one before I picked it up. Great to finally meet him for the first time and finally put a face to the name.

    Tom

      Hi Tom,

Of course it was my pleasure to help, and it was really great meeting you and the others at my first ever SOS!

Wasn't all that productive a show for me given my narrow and esoteric focus these days , but I certainly have no regrets whatsoever for attending - a real cultural experience and I'm glad you and many others got some really nice things.

      Best regards,
      ---Norm

Great early war piece Tom! Lots of nice finish on this guy, especially on that plume.

I like the honest wear pattern, as there is a lot more to be said for badges actually worn in combat than just minty factory bin pick ups. Congrats, and Nice badge.

              Nice badge Tom.

Sounds like a good time was had by all at the SOS.

I have made a lot of friends in the collecting community over the years and i would sure like to meet them.It seems that the SOS is the place.

Hopefully one of these years i will be able to get there.

Glad you all got to meet and pick up some "goodies" too.

              Regards,Martin.

Really nice badge! Just enough wear to give it that "been there" look with enough guilding remaining to still look really nice. Great find.

                          Hi Tom,
Very nice AS in triangle Minesweeper Congrats on such a cool pick up! I see many members returned home more than satisfied from SOS I was very close to go there too but finaly had to give it up due to other soon long voyage. Instead I went to Berlin last weekend to Preussiche Sammlerbörse and it was a big mistake I must say... There was completely nothing interesting there maybe except of tons of fakes, some of them quite unusual. I was able to notice that for example 'feathered eagle' minesweeper fakes now can be found with many different hardware variants
                          Cheers,
                          Hubert
