I agree it's a good "wartime compatible" Souval, but it's interesting that the trimming tooling struck slightly off kilter to the left so that there's extra flashing on the inner margin of the wreath on the right and on the left margin of the eagle's head and leg.

Actually, I suspect the mechanism is that the badge was set slightly to the right in the bed of the trimming stamp. We've seen this phenomenon before on other badges.
