    Coastal Artillery Badge

    Badge and Document.

    Hi Ralph,

A typical "flatback" Coastal Artillery. As discussed in various threads, the maker is unknown, possibly late war continuing into the post-war period for the souvenir and vet replacement markets, possibly Pforzheim area, possibly Rettenmaier, possibly more than one maker involved, variations in hinge shape and catch plates, etc. etc.

Sometimes found with the typical striations on the reverse surface and rectangular-based hinges.

Any story linking it to the document (which seems earlier than I would expect)?

    Best regards,
    ---Norm

        Hi Norm

I have two documents to this man, Iron Cross 2nd. Class and this one. These did not come with this award just used it for a background. Thanks for the information on this badge Norm. Ralph
