      Hi Joerg,
This is so called "flatback' U-boat made by unknown maker, controversial since we do not know so far if these where made wartime, probably not.
      Cheers,
      Hubert

        Pass

I would Pass on this and find a reputable UBoot Badge.

My advice to you is to look for another one more "text" book

So we can say this is not 100% a copy, but it could be. It is just not known if wartime made or postwar. Is that right?

                Best regards,

                Joerg

                  Joerg,
I think that is a correct summation of what has been said.

So buying this would be a gamble and the question is always how much money do you have to gamble with?

IMO, if this badge is real cheap and you don't mind taking a chance with $100 to $150 then buy it and if it turns out in the future it is a good badge then you got a deal.

If it turns out that these are fake then you might get back $25 selling it as a repro.

But if the seller is asking full price or the same price as a good condition badge that is accepted war time manufacture then I would take those dollars and find a badge from an accepted war time manufacture as has been suggested by others here.

Also, I would not buy this or any item based on a "lifetime guarantee" because it may be a long time before the jury is in on these badges. D.N. was a wonderful dealer but I am not sure his lifetime guarantees are worth a lot now.

There are some very nice badges around for fair prices right now if you search a bit.

                  Regards,
                  JAndrew
