Personally it appears to be a reproduction - it certainly does not match the features (obverse, reverse or hardware) of a genuine tombak example, so I wouldn't bother trying to polish it.

Im not a fan of this badge either. Seems somebody put a lot of acid on it and claimed like a good piece. If I see right this one is selling quite big dealer
