Opinions needed on U Boat Badge

Hi Peter,

As Hubert said, it's a well-known fake that's been around for a long time. As you can see by Rob's posting from 2003, referred to as the "cyclops" fake in its various iterations. I believe there's even a version with "diamonds".

I agree, it is a well known fake that I have not seen for a while. I have seen a couple of those with Assmann hallmarks too.

Thanks for posting those links Norm and Hubert. They were very interesting. This item is offered for sale, but I thought that I would check it out on the forum before deciding whether to purchase because I didn't quite like the look of it. Funnily enough many of the U Boat badges that I come across turn out to be fake, and because I do not "specialise" in these, I try and post them before purchase.
