Hi Gents....Arrived in the post today. Even better in hand, really love the quality Tombak construction and detail on this award.

I'm assuming an early Juncker? Opinions as always appreciated.....

I agree completely about the Schwerin part,...well only the uboot came out a bit pigeoning , rest of Schwerin medals are great

I agree with the above. I am only referring to Schwerin's u-boat badge. In the same vein, what was GWL thinking when they did their u-boat badge? When I look at their Luftwaffe awards and their nice destroyer badges and then their u-boat badge...really?

A badge that would be near impossible to upgrade.

I also agree that Juncker u-boat design is much nicer than employed by Schwerin but the quality of gilding is better on Schwerin awards.

Here are pics of the one I just got off the e-stand (pics are from the seller). The photos really don't do the badge justice as it is difficult to appreciate the frosted gold and the brightly polished high lights.

The Schwerin is a top quality badge but I do agree, the Eagle does let it down.

I personally like the GWL. Just a pity they never made it in Tombak.
