        Hi Peter,

I agree a genuine Souval with "wartime compatible" production values with an unknown period of production. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the silvered reverse finish for wartime production because these are sometimes double marked with an L/58 stamp that is considered post-war, but we simply can't know for sure. I prefer the gilded reverse examples, but that's just me.

Here's a link to a thread which in turn links to previous threads on the topic.

Looks good to me but I wonder about the gilt wreath and eagle. They appear to have a lot less wear than the rest of the badge. Possibly refinished?

I wonder what caused the square shadow on the back?

I am thinking some kind of a price tag John?

It could have sat in some dealership for years with an adhered tag on the reverse ?

                Who knows.

                Regards,Martin.

Personally, I believe the finish is all original to the badge -- we'll just never know exactly when that was.

I agree with Martin that the square on the back is from some kind of sticker that was on there for some period of time.

                  Best regards,
                  ---Norm

I agree on both points. John

I also agree, it's "wartime compatible" RS S-boot
Same as my ground dug example. Cannot compare the finish since it is almost all gone on my S-boot.
                        Cheers,
                        Hubert

                          Hi guys !

I once got this one from a veteran and You are right, it was a sticker with his name and address...

                          Kind regards, Peter
