    U Boat Badge unmarked

I was just offered this badge today. The owner just bought a collection.

    I like a number of features but then there's a few I don't. I just don't know if it's a good one or not.

    Hi emilitaria_usmc,

Wow, that's very interesting. Here's a recent discussion on another almost identical (but different) example:

    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=611595

At the time, this being the only one, I couldn't decide if it was an excellent fake or an original early Juncker with a re-worked reverse, but now seeing another one it would appear this is indeed likely a new high-end reproduction.

Any more story about the badge's origin that could provide additional insight?

    Best regards,
    ---Norm

      Deja Vu!

Same weird reverse hardware and same weird foggy-looking finish to the reverse. At first I thought I was looking at the same badge we discussed a few weeks ago, but they are slightly different. Finding another one of these weird badges so close together only adds more suspicion to these IMO.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

        Hello,

Did this supposed U-boat Badge come from the same collection as the pieces that were posted in the thread below?

        http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=618200

If so, then you should run away from this "collection" as fast as you can. So far, there is not a single piece that is real.

        Best regards,

Thank you Tom, Norm, and Tom!!!

          Yes, same lot.
here is the name of the seller

these badges were offered by karla amspa***r / wayne ha**r out of Pennsylvania if that rings a bell with anyone out there.

He has very many other rare badges and a knights cross.
I talked on the phone with him earlier today.
I told him I never buy anything unless I get it checked out first.

I will email him all seven items have been identified as "probable repros."

            Hello again,

You are being too nice. I would say "definite fakes".

            Best regards,

This is what I would also say.
              Cheers,

I'd say the cannon and flag actually look fine for an early Juncker - in fact the obverse is extremely well executed. As discussed in the other thread, it's the look of the reverse and the hardware that raised the red flags.

                  ---Norm

I can only agree. It was the cuts around the cannon and flag that made me think it was possibly OK, but I just couldn't get past the reverse hardware.

I agree, looks suspicious and wouldn't gamble.
