E-boat badge

I found this badge yesterday, along with some other german items. I would appreiciate your comments and opinions in regards to its originality.
I hate to ask this, but in this condition, what would be its value?

Hello Frederic,

It is an original badge. Too bad about the broken wing and missing top hook, though, because it is otherwise in pretty nice condition as these badges go.

If it was complete and undamaged, it would be worth $600-650, IMO. In the condition shown, it would be worth at least 60-75% less, I would think.

I agree. I think a top of the line SB second pattern S-boat badge, meaning the normal grey hull with little if any gilding left on the wreath come in at $800-850.

This badge if undamaged, around $650 or a bit more.

I also think due to the broken wing and missing top hook, the value is greatly diminished to the $125 to $150 level if you found a buyer that wanted it as a starter piece.

Still, it is a period badge and many are damaged of course which must be taken into account when selling.

This is how a SB S-boat should look at this time. Note the grey hull. Too bad about the top hook and wing, but not much can be done now.

My bet is somebody dropped this badge on the floor and the zinc wing just broke off.
