Let´s put it that way, there are original Kriegsmarine badges and copies with that setup. Your's looks good, Sascha.

IMO, here is a bad apple e.g. with that setup. These badges have the reverse cutout in a very sloppy way. Who knows, maybe they are ALL ok, but I held the badge below and did not like it.

              Hello,
here times a piece, which corresponds to the design of the destroyer war badge.
              I consider it doubtful....

Absolutely, Sascha, made in the very same way with these crude cutouts.
                Cheers, Frank

                  Ah Frank!

The very old infamous bearded eagle fake destroyer! It's been sometime since we seen one of those around!

Good memory, Tim! Strange thing is that I never saw a second one.
                    Cheers, Frank

                      Hi Frank!

Sorry, didn't mean to be rude, just away for a few days. Yes, I remember this was one of the more common (for that day) Kriegsmarine fakes floating around.

Though, I honestly believe this fake was modeled after an original badge, possibly a later Hoebacher or ShuCo piece? The fakers must have had something to model their product after IMO.

I do remember selling a similar unmarked badge a couple of years ago that pretty much matched this set up, though the detailing was much better, including the weld joints around the catch base; and of course-no beard!
                      Tim
