Submarine War Badge. Maker Juncker

A brass/tombak based example of the Submarine War Badge. The solid badge in a very good, worn condition. Most of the gilt plate faded.
Not marked but a known variation that has been attributed to the maker C.E. Juncker from Berlin. See Weber/Skora, die Kriegsabzeichen der Kriegsmarine, p.160/161, type 1.38. Here with a variation pin construction.
Difficult to find.

A rare one indeed, but in my opinion the only thing why Juncker U-boots are nice is because of the eagle's head. There are several makers which have better flag, main gun and swastika cut-outs. The eagle on this one is not as detailed and sharp as on other Junckers.

I agree with you Hans. It's not the earlier, heavier piece with the round wire "C" and that "flat C" looks to be hanging by a thread. That said, it is a nice badge, but I don't know if it's $875 nice...

Hi Guys,,

A typical "Type 3.1" late Tombak with the prominent hull flaw. This type can also be found in zinc (Type 3.2) before the switch to the Type 4 die which is exclusively in zinc.

Very nice type 3.1 as Norm has said Slightly overpriced but nice.

Looks like there is a dammage on the head. Yes the eagles head is the only thing what makes this juncker uboot badges so special, but this one doesnt cover that.
