I agree, original worn AS s-boot, I have some concerns about main pin, if it is not replaced since seems too long but cannot see how it sits in the hinge clearly on my phone...
      Cheers,

        Hi,

I agree, a genuine but well worn zinc badge. Were it was found is interesting!

I think the hinge and main pin are OK but I'm not 100% sure on the top hook or catch. Maybe old replacements/repairs. Maybe not.

Resizing and adding the pics again.

          Hello guys,

I would say that the main pin has been replaced. The pins on these usually go up to or slightly beyond the catch, so this one seems too long. Also, what else could have caused that arching scratch mark across the reverse? IMO, this must have been caused by the end of the original pin, which was much shorter. It's also an indication that the ball hinge was pretty loose within the crimped boss and was free to rotate.

          Best regards,
          Tom

              Hi Tom,

That's an excellent observation. But your yellow arrows went off on a slight tangent towards the top.

              Best regards,
              ---Norm

Excellent observation on the main pin Tom and I stand corrected.

Based on the scratch pattern (specifically to the immediate left of the tophook) and unless the top hook also rotates then I'd suggest that the top hook has indeed been repaired/replaced.

Perhaps it was done intentionally in order to place the catch and top hook on the arc and has nothing to do with the old pin scratching it?
