Here's a U-Boat badge in my collection marked with the boats number (118)

Here are some facts on U-118.

Hi TR,

I'm afraid it looks like a post-war badge - possibly a "replacement piece", possibly cast considering what might be a casting line inside the cutout under the sub? As well, the sharp-cornered sheet metal hinge isn't found on any known wartime U-boat badge but is common on post-war badges. Most reminiscent of the "flatback maker" with an undue amount of hand finishing around the head and shoulders, although Souval also made a very similar badge post-war.
