I have the same opinion of this badge as Mike did on your other two posts - the G.W.L. U-boat and the f.o. U-boat.
It looks like someone over there is doing a very nice job at refinishing original badges. I presume they're all from the same source? A shame really...
Hi Norm, they are all from the same source, they may have been re finished? however, I was once told that the person who sold these badges was known to occasionaly put badges into a' jewellry ultra sonic cleaning bath' to remove any dirt or tarnishing, this may account for the 'new' look of these badges???
Any more opinions or input would be appreciated?

Hi T,
I've used a jewellery ultrasonic cleaner on badges. There's no way it can produce this look on a zinc badge. These have been refinished, IMO.

I have to agree with Norm here.
This is not the first set of KM awards we have seen from the UK with this "refinishing" job.
After viewing your U-Boat Threads it seems that other members are of the same opinion in regards to the badges being refinished.
