Hi Gaz, here is mine. I only have these two shots to hand, but I hope they will be of some use to you? As you can see this one is a late war zinc badge with only a bit of the gilt finish left.

    Cheers, Ade.

            Hello Gaz,

Here are some pictures of an original Friedrich Orth Auxiliary Cruiser Badge from my collection. In addition to the photos, here are some measurements for the badge. The hinge should have a curved flange, top and bottom and the hinge should be soldered into a recess having the same shape as the hinge itself. I have only ever seen these badges by f.o. with the vertical needle pin setup. The catch should be round wire stock, formed into a question mark shape '?' and soldered into a hole at the bottom reverse. The f.o. marking should be in relief. I am only aware of originals made in zinc.
            height ------------------------------------------ 57.20mm
            width ------------------------------------------- 44.60mm
            thickness ---------------------------------------- 2.54mm
eagle wingspan (widest point) -------------------- 27.41mm
eagle height (top of head to bottom of swastika) -- 14.53mm
            weight ------------------------------------------ 26 grams (approx.)
            Best regards! Tom
PS Let me know if you need any more pictures or other info.

The hinge end. (Notice how the hinge is set into a recess.)

The maker marking should look exactly like this. The marking is (raised) in relief. There should be no flaw at the top of the 'o'. Best of luck on your quest!
