    Fake GWL U-boat Badge

    Hi guys,

I saw this fake GWL marked U-boat badge in an auction lot of mostly postwar items that supposedly belonged to Kapitänleutnant Freiherr von Schlippenbach. An interesting fake, in my opinion, as it looks nothing like an original GWL plus I have never seen a fake like this before. I have seen this same fake with a 'Schwerin, Berlin" marking but never with a 'GWL' marking.

    Best regards,
    Tom

      Hi Tom,
I've seen them before but with different reverse setup:

        Hi Tom,

Thanks for posting this. As you say these fake Deumers with cut-out swastikas have been around for a number of years, often marked Schwerin and sometimes with horizontal pins. Interesting to see one another one marked GWL like in the thread Hubert pointed out.

        Best regards,
        ---Norm
