Fake E Boat badge set with real diamonds?

    Fake E Boat badge set with real diamonds?

    I would be grateful for opinions on this E Boat badge which has the Swastica set with real diamonds. They are definately real, having been looked at with a Diamond Tester. It is inscribed on the back Godet and Sohn 800. Notwithstanding the real diamonds, I think that this is a fake item.I aplologise for the pics which are attached.

    Hi Peter,

    I believe this is most likely an out-and-out fake. Originals I have read about were made by Schwerin, so the Godet mark would be wrong up front. The main killer though is that this badge appears to be based on the French "Bacqueville" design, which should have no association with a Godet diamonds badge! Unless of course, Bacqueville badges are actually Godets

      Even if the diamonds are OK, the badge is not.

        Also the actual diamonds badge was only made based on the 2nd model badge, not the first! So this one, even with real diamonds gets a big

            Not totally true the E Boat badge with diamonds worn by Kaptl Bernd-Georg Kluge was in fact a solid silver example made by a jeweller in the first form his second form award badge he had the eagle and swastika removed and the diamonds set in the wreath this he wore when serving with the postwar German Navy his first form badge was sold some years ago by Regimentals {one of the diamonds was missing from the swastika}but this of course doesnt change the fact that this example is a copy.

              However Martyn, the badge itself was a 2nd model not first model E-Boat badge. I hate to say it, but from this picture, it looks like all he did was have the eagle and swastika removed from the original badge. That really doesn't look like silver to me.

                Thanks Mike, Ludwig, Andy, Kondor and Martyn. I suspected that it might be a fake, which is why I posted it. I know very little indeed about E Boat badges, but never thought that fakers would use real diamonds.
