I agree with Hubert, an exceptionally nice zinc S&L. You don't usually find such a nice finish on these; this one looks excellent but to be sure personally I'd want to check an inconspicuous spot with acetone soaked Q-tip to be sure. I hasten to say though, that some wouldn't do that. The finish on an S&L should be acetone proof.
It's not quite the most common variant - the same setup with the shorter wide pin is the most common. Yours is what I call a type 2.3 and the shorter pin a type 2.4. Here are examples of both.
It's hard to judge value on these, not generally the most desirable of U-Boat badges and not rare, with the added stigma that there were probably a lot of S&L leftovers after the war. But still a very nice badge.
