    Hello,

M 30 was a 1938 Type Minesweeper/Minensuchboot of the M 25 Class. It was built in 1940. It was commissioned on October 31, 1940 and became operational with the 3. Minesweeper Flotilla. In November of 1945 it was seized by the Russians as a war prize.

    Best regards,
    Tom

          Karol,

That makes sense. The 3. Minesweeper Flotilla was in Norway, specifically the North Sea and the Gulf of Finland, then moved to the central and western Baltic Sea. (Just the area where that bell was recovered.) But was the bell recovered from the actual shipwreck or was the bell just found in the water by itself?

          Best regards,
          Tom

            Hello again,

After the war, the Russians used the M 30 (now called the T-914) in the Black Sea Fleet so I'm thinking that the Germans removed the bell and pitched it in the Baltic before the ship was seized by the Russians. Just guessing here.

            Best regards,
            Tom

                    Hello,

For me, this would be a hard item to put a value on.

                    Best regards,
                    Tom
