    Marinefrontspange on E-stand

    The quality seems to be "a little" low on this piece, that do you think?

    Hello Peter,

    I have to agree with you. I could never see myself buying one of these. A crudely made piece for sure and one where the only "originals" were made on board warships, with whatever means and materials available. How can anyone possibly have even the remotest idea of how to determine original from fake here. Unless, of course, it was recovered off a shipwreck or had some other rock-solid provenance. You really have to be a believer to buy a piece such as this. I can't say that this is original, but I can't say it is fake either.

      Well, it follows the "first pattern" design except the reverse is not filled with melted lead as usual.

      Like Tom says it's a question of belief as you'll probably never know for sure if it's the real deal or not. Have one myself but it cost 1/3 of the current asking price so I can live with that

            Hi guys,

            I can only agree with what has been said already by Tom and others. Every single one of these look like they could be easily made in someone's backyard with simple tools and moulds. So without forensically testing the metals to see if they could be dated somehow with certainty, how on earth would anyone be able to tell if one of these were made 65 years ago, or a week ago?? With the level of fakery we see with Staegemeir and other good forgers, it doesn't appear that these would be hard to reproduce at all.

              Thanks for the replys. So i guess it's every man for himself when i comes to this awards.
              I must say that i like the hole idea of them beeing produced and awarded directly onboard the ships but im not gonna buy one of these since i would never feel comfortable with it, and thats a shame considering it might be authentic.

                As I agree with the other gents here I have no wish to continue on and on but Stagemeirs products are made to deceive and fool collectors. If one has studied these clasps a little up front you know what you're getting into.

                So I feel comfortable with mine because I know what it is and I have a little more complete KM collection.....perhaps

                The one below was for sale last year for 330 Euro

                      Hello,
                      I agree with what others have said as well. With the high price of militaria these days, there are far too many other things I would rather spend my hard earned money on then one of these Marinefrontspanges. Plus if you had it and needed to sell it if you got in a pinch, you would be keeping it. I am a KM guy and I frankly don't care if I ever own one of these things.

                      Maybe I should try to make one.
