    It looks like a good bagde but the finish is not original IMO

      My thoughts as well - an original badge but weird finish, except to the hinge/pin/catch which is the original colour/finish.

        I agree, original L/56 zincer but refinished
        As Mike has noticed, original darker gilt can be seen on reverse hardware and on the catch base plate you can see traces of repaint, as marked on enclosed picture.

              I agree with the above. Soaking the badge in acetone or lacquer thinner will remove all of the fake gold paint and not harm the traces of original finish remaining. The badge will probably be mostly gray, but at least it will look real again and, as Daniel says, much nicer.
