    Hi Philippe,

It is indeed a mint Souval. No need to specify "8 waves" since all Souvals have 8 waves. It's the RK zincers that come in either 8 wave or 9 wave variants.

    Best regards,

Agree with Norm, mint 'wartime-compatible' badge
Interestingly, best part of mint examples feature round wire catches on round base plate, sometimes (but rare) flat wire catches on oblong base plate and never (or almost never) flat wire catches on round base plate. Do you have similiar observation?
      Cheers,
      Hubert

          Hi Andy,

Although mint, the finish is definitely original to the badge. It's the same "paint-like" Souval finish seen on many worn badges such as this minesweeper posted previously by kfs.

This question is not whether it's original finish, but rather when was the badge produced - the perennial question for any Souval badge. Once again, all we can say is "wartime compatible" when it comes to this prolific maker.

As Hubert points out, the few minty examples around, whether with gilt or silvered reverses, tend to have the round-wire catch instead of the flat-wire catch, but in general the round-wire catch far outnumbers the flat-wire catch on Souvals anyway, so it's hard to attribute any significance to that observation at this time.

          Best regards,
          ---Norm

I would never buy a souval km award, but this little thing looks very tempting...
