For completeness, I'll mention that there is a "Type 3" maker mark but that's seen only on the Gablonz ground-dug "prototypes" posted by Pavel previously. Naturally since these are from a new reverse die with the cast-in hinge block experimentation, the maker mark is again different.
I managed to pick up one of these early zinc 1st pattern eagle unmarked "AS in triangle" badges - "early crimp" variant. These are distinguished from all the later variants not only by the catch crimp, but also because they are cut out around the eagle's head and shoulders similarly to the early Tombak badges.
I've seen three of these so far so they merit their own place (Type 3.2.2) in the Classification Table. (The "early crimp" marked "AS in triangle" version doesn't yet earn a separate number listing since I've only seen one so far, and the rule is it can't be "one-off" to make it into the classification.)
Hi Norm,
I still miss an AS Minesweeper with early crimp to the catch but here is my recent addition with classic crimp and type 1 maker's mark
Cheers,
Hubert
