    U-Boot Spange silver

Hi @all. What's your opinion about this piece? Cast fake or a Souval postware made piece?

    Regards, Michael

Hi Peter, thanks for your reply. Souval made such Spangen postwar.

        Hi mpiering,

Yes, a poor cast fake. I can believe S&L made this one, the reverse hardware is similar to what Souval used on some of their postwar fake.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Tom, I must have missed class that day Granted that both Souval and St&L were involved in post-war production, but to credit this horrible piece to them is a bit too far fetched IMO. Are there any other references that link this specific catch to Souval?

          cheers

            Hi Peter,

here are 2 more badges with this setup. A LW clasp and one more U-Boot spange (with L/58 mark on the pin).
It seems that the parts are a mixture of S&L and Souval. In this threat are also pictures of such mixes: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...=u-boot+L%2F58

              Hi guys,

Along with the postwar Souval badges that mpiering just showed with the identical catch, Souval also used this type of flimsy sheetmetal hinge as well. Here is the same crappy hinge on a postwar Souval Heer flak badge.
