    New U boat arrival

Well, it finally arrived after a journey from Germany to my neighbors house, back to Germany again, and finally into my hands The seller was 1 number off on my address and it would appear my fine letter carrier didn't recognize my name so back it went ( I was going to rant about Canada Post, but I am too happy at this moment to bother).

It is an unmarked zinc which I did identify, but will let you take a look and try to identify it.

Its a Funcke & Bruninghaus (L/56), complete with tell tale pinhead "blob" on one of the feathers. Nice original piece.

I have to remember to put a disclaimer on these questions, 'no experts allowed'

Gordon is of course correct that it is an unmarked L/56, and the blob he mentions is the easiest way to verify the design. http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ighlight=funke < see post 8 for a better pic of the die flaw.

Doing my homework and using this forum has paid for itself again. I have to thank Gordon for the die flaw tip as it allowed me to pick out this badge from poor pictures and a couple of other questionable awards that the seller had forsale.

Chris, Zimmerman was a good guess as they share a few similiar characteristics. I might be wrong but I think the L/52's had the cut out swas.

          Al
