S&L Coastal Artillery (Kriegsabzeichen für Marineartillerie)

I would like opinions concerning this Coastal Artillery badge. I believe it is an unmarked S&L. All opinions are appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Chad

        Hi Chad,

Yes, I agree with your assessment.

As an aside, given the large output of zinc S&Ls with different setups, I think it's important we collectively try to amass some data on the weights and dimensions of the variants to see if if they settle out into categories. The difficulty with S&L is their apparent practise of continued post-war assembly and later possibly even production, similar to Souval, so it would be nice if we try to first tease out some different categories for each zinc line.

Granted it may take months to get enough input on the forum to come to any conclusions. Would you be able to start this off with some data on your badge?

        Best regards,
        ---Norm

For only 15 posts, you seem to know what you are talking about Chad and do the research before posting. Good work.

                Welcome to WAF.

                John

                  Hi Hubert,

Could you please post the weight and dimensions of your badge to compare with Chad's?

And if others could do the same for their S&L CA variants then we can get a good reference thread going here.

Thanks to Chad and Hubert for starting it off.

                  Best regards,
                  ---Norm

Allright, I just needed to get back home from my office
Dimensions measured with a good scale and incredibly crappy callipers:
                    Height: 54 mm
                    Width: 42 mm
                    Weight: 23,9 g
So it is 10% heavier than Chad's.
                    Cheers,
                    Hubert

                      Thanks Hubert.

Here are the six variant setups of the zinc S&L CA badge seen posted so far. Now we have dimensions/weights on two of them.

Please scour your collections and add examples with statistics to this thread.

                      Best regards,

                        Width: 41,51 mm

Okay Chad, my CA arrived today and using some incredibly accurate measuring tools and scales here are the results:
Height 53.42mm (taken from the top of the head to the small recess in the ribbon tie at the bottom)
                            Width 41.31mm
                            Weight 21.6 Grams
                            And now the pictures:
