First, somehow you flipped the image on the last one. The boat goes to the left as viewing.

The best KM badge book available now is through Roger Bender and Bender Publishing. You can google it.

Here is the book, just published a month or so ago.

Agree with John, it is the best one on the market. I am a happy owner of the Schwerin tombac HSF seen on the cover and inside
Another must have is 'TORPEDO LOS! The Fascinating World of U-Boat Collectibles' - not only it is excellent but also because both books complete each other.
                    Cheers,
                    Hubert

I deleted it. Go ahead and repost the image again. John

                          Hi Mike,

Your zinc Fleet Badge is attributed to, and almost certainly made by, Steinhauer & Lück, Lüdenscheid.

The zinc 1st pattern S-Boot is rather interesting. Very similar to (yet subtly and disctinctively different from) the controversial zinc S&L S-boats, and a reverse setup that seems slightly reminiscent of FLL. If legitimate, then I'd wonder about a Lüdenscheid-made badge.

It would be helpful if the Heer and Luftwaffe guys could comment on the reverse setup. Certainly needs more study and discussion.

                          Best regards,
                          ---Norm

                            Hi Mike,
As Norm has said, HSF is attributed to S&L.
Regarding S-boat, I don't know, but found similiar setup on '57 para badge (also S&L?)... posted by Martin on GCA recently.
                            Cheers,
                            Hubert

                              Hi Hubert,

That typical "very early S&L '57" setup on the Para uses a block hinge with a deeper base than on this S-Boot, and is indeed similar to that used by Lüdenscheid makers during wartime as well, but with a different catch.

But I can't yet place the short-based block hinge from the S-Boot at this time (unless it's just a trimmed down version of the other). I think that's why we need to look further.

                              Best regards,
                              ---Norm
