    Not really a Kriegsmarine badge.....!

I had no idea where to post this item, because we have no special forum for Marine only! I decided to post it here, because I think here are a lot of Marine collectors.

Seller says it a kind of patriotic Marine pillowcase. It came from a ww2 U-Boot soldier and my question is, has anybody seen a similar item before? Made pre 1945 or later? Opinions?

    Thanks for comments and help!

This appears to be a pre-war patriotic pillowcase. I have quite a few of these from the post 1933 period, usually images of ships and aircraft on the pillowcase. My guess on this one is late WWI or the 20s.

Due to the flag and scene, most probably before 1933. Possible after that date of course but I doubt very much if it is after 1945.

These pop up from time to time on german ebay.

      John, thanks for your comment!

The one which I posted, looks like a paint printed pillowcase. Your item looks like embroidered, right? Do have also items with printed pictures?

PS: I ask, because I have a similar black velvet pillowcase from a German political organization, which existed from 1924-1929. It has the same printed picture style like the Marine item which I posted here. I wasn't sure, if such printed pillowcases were really made pre 1945?

Yes, I do. As in this case, I doubt if they were painting Zenker images on pillowcases after the war. Anything is possible though, I just do not think so. John

Now I think this political pillowcase has a chance, that it was made pre 1930.

          Thanks for the help!

Those pillowcases are something. Especially the Wolfgang Zenker.
              All are splendid.
