    Coastal Artillery badge -pic

was going around to a bunch of local yard sales...came across a 40+ year old guy who had an old Army footlocker...inside it was his fathers old belongings he was clearing out. Old uniforms....then underneath was this helmet and 2 badges...

Coastal Artillery Badge...has a makers mark on the back side...has the proper squared hinge..proper dimensions as a real badge...i tried my best to bend/flex it by hand, it is solid as a rock. Eagle head design/shape seems to be proper for the badge.

In your guys opinion...is the badge real? If you have any concerns as to it being legitimate and not a copy, what are the red flags? I know the Coastal Arty badges are quite rare. Again mind you it came from a guys fathers collection within a footlocker. Wasnt from a gun show, or a shady pawn shop, etc. I had some faith in the items when I saw them, which is why I bought them.

    Anyhow, onto the pictures....

    Hi Dieter,

I'm sorry to say these SHuCo Coastal Artillery badges are high quality fakes. Check out this link which in turn links to another of several threads on these reproductions.
BTW, Coastal Artillery badges as a class are not rare, although some makers are less common than others.

    Best regards,
    ---Norm

It is a zero percent chance of being real? Just odd as I posted the flak badge I pulled out of the same footlocker and I am being told that is a real one. Ah man o man...
