        Hi Dai,

Very nice. The "Hymmen-like" variant with the distinctive hooked-beak, usually attributed to Deumer because it's pictured in Deumer's catalogue. See Tim's thread here.

        Best regards,
        ---Norm

          Hi Norm,
You are correct. I did not correct it in my files.

          Regards,
          Jody

A very nice and hard to find original badge from Ludenscheid.

            Regards,Martin.

Yes, and remember a couple points about this badge. The period badge came like this, solid back, and also hollow back.

Secondly, a similar fake is floating around (no pun intended) and has been for quite a few years. Maybe 20 I think, perhaps Jody knows.

That fake had a Schwerin stamp on it I think, not sure.

In any case, your badge is a nice one. One of my favorites. I also think it was one of the earliest badges made for the U-boat arm due to the top pin similar to the WWI sub badge.

              John

The fake marked "Schwerin" that John mentioned can be seen at the top of this thread.
And here's another thread with a repro of this badge type.

                  Cheers.

Yes, these are a nice solid badge and appear to hold their finish well over time, as I don't see too many that have lost much gilding. Pretty strong details as well.

I do feel this style posted by Dai is probably manufactured by Deumer, as it is a dead ringer for the one pictured in the Deumer catalog, and does have hardware associated with Deumer traits on other products.

Some other collectors will probably not agree completely with that and unfortunately, as these are unmarked and the Ludensheid manufacturers appear to have shared components and perhaps designs, we may never really know 100% either way.

The thread Norm linked above shows an unmarked (IMO- Hymmen badge). you can see there are differences between this one here and that one. I also compared that example to known/marked Hymmen badges and again, IMO, it's a match.

                      Anyway Dai, nice badge! Congrats.
                      Tim
